When I met Erick for the first time in 2009, I told him my name is Elise and he mentioned that his mom’s name is Elisa. I thought that was special because it’s not a very common name and it probably helped him remember my name. My dad’s middle name is Eric and our birthdays are 4 days apart. When we first met we talked for hours and I felt a strong connection with him. I talked to him like he was someone I had known for a long time. One time he was talking to other people about how long he’s known me and he said 10 years, but at the time it was only 7. He had such a good spirit and was very caring towards me, always wanted to make sure I was taken care of. We got to know each other over the years and I even visited him in Ibiza (I live in Orange County, California). He said something to my friends that no one has ever said before. He told them on separate occasions with different people, “Any friend of Elise is a friend of mine.” That just shows what a beautiful, caring soul he had. I felt compelled to write something to his family because this loss has been hard on me too. Erick has given me some of the best experiences of my life! He will always have a special place in my heart. I send my deepest condolences to his family, including his mother Elisa who I have never met, but feel like I know her. Much love. - Elise

I had the pleasure of meeting Erick for the first time in New York City in 2000.  Over the years, our paths crossed frequently; Miami, New York, Ibiza, and even Colombia.  He always had a smile on his face and was, of course, the life of the party.

Erick was an artist in the truest sense of the word  The world is a better place for the music he made for us.  Through Erick's music, he will live on.
