

Juana Aleman, 80, of Union City, NJ, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2020 at Christ Hospital in Jersey City from Covid-19. Juana was born in Pinar Del Rio, Cuba on November 24, 1939 to the late Eugenia Aleman-Diaz. Juana fled Cuba under the Castro regime and arrived in United States in the late 1970’s. She worked in a factory as an embroiderer and quickly became a citizen of the United States. She devoted herself helping raise her beloved granddaughter Crystal. One of her biggest joys was cooking, feeding others and ensuring they had an espresso con espumita upon entering her home. Despite her circumstances and hardships, she remained vivacious and full of life. However, later in life, she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
Survivors include her devoted children, Orquidea Medina and those residing in Cuba, Mercedes, Angela, Paula, Diosimia and Ramon Medina- Aleman. Also survived by her loving granddaughter Crystal Alvarez-Medina and 12 other grandchildren who reside in Cuba.
The funeral will be private at the request of the family.
