

Clara Maria Garcia, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, age 88, of Live Oak, Texas passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2021. Clara was born April 18, 1933 in Galveston, Texas. Clara was the proud and devoted wife of Ernest Garcia. Being the wife of a military man and a mother of six children was a full-time job. This was a job Clara did with pride and love. She followed her husband from base to base, overseas and stateside numerous times in the 23 years of being a military wife. Each time she packed up her six kids to make the move to be by her husband’s side. In 1974, retirement from military life led them to settle in Live Oak, Texas. Clara was a loving mother, and she would never hesitate to tell you what was on her mind. She was a spitfire and full of energy taking pride in her home and garden. Clara lost the love of her life and soulmate ten months earlier. The two of them were inseparable for 70 years. They were very active in their church, Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Selma, Texas, and they were involved in many of the ministries at the church. They had a love of dance, travel and adventure. Clara and Ernest are finally reunited. Clara is survived by her six children, Marquita, Ernest, Louis, Lisa, David and Susie and their spouses, 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Clara will be held Monday, September 6, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, Texas. The rosary will commence at 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will occur Tuesday September 7, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 16075 Evans Road, Selma, Texas. She will be laid to rest with her husband, Ernest, at Holy Cross Cemetery immediately following the funeral mass.
