With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Andy, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who passed away on February 20, 2026, at the age of 71, in Universal City, Texas.
Andy was born on September 9, 1954, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She graduated from high school in 1972 and soon after began a remarkable professional journey as a Legal Secretary with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C. Her intelligence, dedication, and strong work ethic allowed her to build a successful career working with several prominent law firms in the Washington, D.C. area and later in Cleveland, Ohio, where she retired in 2008.
More than her accomplishments, Andy will be remembered for who she was: a radiant, positive soul with a quick wit, a playful sense of humor, and a smile that could light up any room. She loved deeply and loyally—her family, her friends, and her constant companion, her beloved dog, Chula. Andy had a rare gift for making people feel seen and welcomed; to her, there were no strangers, only friends she hadn’t yet met.
Andy was preceded in death by her son, Justin J. (1975–1977); her parents, Howard and Doris Anderson; and her sister, Donna Galbraith, all of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Ramiro J. Flores, of Universal City, Texas; her loving sons, Armando Flores (Fabiola) of San Antonio, Texas, and Alexander Flores (Michelle) of Charlotte, North Carolina; and her cherished grandchildren, Santiago and Camila Flores, who brought her endless joy. She is also survived by her sisters Dorothy Thill (Cletus), Linda Irgens (Don), Lavonne Reyelts, Judy Sona, and Debra Anderson; her brothers Darwin Anderson (Judy), Darrell Anderson (Marilyn) and Dennis Anderson; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved unconditionally.
Darla was truly the heart and soul of her family. Through her example, she taught her sons the importance of independence, kindness, generosity, and compassion—especially toward those less fortunate. Her laughter, warmth, and unwavering love will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.
In accordance with Andy’s wishes, her life will be honored with a Celebration of Life, reflecting her joyful spirit and love for connection.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home 625 Kitty Hawk Rd. Universal City,TX 78148, followed immediately by a Celebration of Life gathering at The Silver Bullet 10929 Nacogdoches Road, San Antonio, TX 78217 where she loved to visit with many friends that she loved dearly and who always reciprocated their love for her.
We invite all who knew and loved Andy to join us in celebrating her beautiful life, her laughter, and the love she shared so freely.
