Biography
Edith Peelyon came into this world May 11th 1941 to Albert and Juanita Long in Durant OK. She spent her childhood and adolescents in and around the Durant area with her 2 sisters Peggy Pults and Betty Simper and her brother Al Long. She has some very interesting stories about her childhood about moving around a lot living in smoke houses and chicken coops. They were not a rich family and did without a lot. She laughed about it later that she would always have rolls of toilet paper because as a child they didn’t always have this luxury. She married at a very young age and had her 1st son Roy. The marriage didn’t last very long. She then met her second husband William Gregory who was in the Navy. Roy was adopted by William as his own and they had 2 other children a daughter Billie whom was called Jodie by her family and another son Richard whom was called Richie. They lived in Dallas while William was in the Navy. They moved to New Braunfels for a few years then moved to Schertz into a small 2 bedroom house on Randolph Blvd. As in many marriages William and Faye went their separate ways. At this point she met the love of her life James Peelyon and began a whirlwind adventure, traveling to all the states except North Dakota. Traveled overseas quite a bit and loved the adventures Jim and Faye had. Finally settling in Arizona. Jim had a wit about him that was a joy to be around he made friends very easily and always had people laughing with his tales. In 1997 Faye came back to Navasota because her father passed at this point in her life. At this time she was reunited with her 3 children whom she had not seen for over 39 years. It was just like there were no years that had passed. Faye was very relieved that her children welcomed her back into their arms. A year after seeing her children they were introduced to Jim. The 1st meeting was like we had been in his life since the beginning. He even cried when we left to go home he didn’t want us to leave. Went to Arizona as often as we could to see them. Then as life would have it Jim became sick. He had a short fight that he lost in June of 2004. A void was felt by all. A year after Faye lost the love of her life she moved to Universal City to be near her family. She then has to go to Navasota for a while to help her sister Peggy fight her own illness. She was nurse, maid, and cook all for her big sis. After the loss of Peggy she moved back to Live Oak to live with her baby boy Richard. Her baby boy didn’t want to charge his mom rent, but she would not stay if she didn’t pay him and she did every month and also kept a log on anything that was bought for her from the store and she always gave her part. While living with computer savvy lil boy she learned to get on the computer and was also a Facebook fan. She kept up with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s lives. Then in June of 2012 found out that she had lung cancer. She took this new challenge by the horns and never complained. Went through radiation and chemo. Her hair began to thin so she cut it short then one day shaved it all off, She then liked her shiny baby butt bald head. On January 9th was told that she had beaten the cancer and it was gone. She was doing her 3rd to the last chemo treatment and went in her sleep feeling no pain. Her short battle was over and her pain had ended and she had gone to be with the love of her life Jim. We feel blessed to call her Mom, Grandmother, Great- Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Mother-in-law.
