Eleanor Frances Opdycke, 92, formerly of Universal City, TX passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2019 in Houston, TX.
Eleanor who preferred to be called ‘Ellie’ was born on November 28, 1926. She graduated from Belmont High School and went on to Graduate from Massachusetts Memorial School of Nursing in 1946. Ellie married Robert Marland Opdycke on March 20, 1959. They were happily married for 30 years and lived in Universal City Texas.
Ellie was dedicated to working as the School Nurse for St. Monica’s Catholic School for over 50 years and was deeply respected and loved by all who knew her. She had a deep dedication to the School, her Catholic faith and her church.
Ellie is survived by her daughter Tracy Opdycke and her son-in-law David Pearson, her sisters Betty Breen of Burlington, Massachusetts and Marilyn Stone of Bedford, Massachusetts and many nieces and nephews.
Ellie was preceded in death by her husband Robert M. Opdycke, son, Jay Opdycke, parents Paul and Nellie Marobella, sister Elaine Cameron and sister Pauline McKearin.
The funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at St. Monica’s Catholic Church, 510 North St. in Converse, TX. Preceding the service, visitation will be held from 5 -8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Colonial Funeral Home in Universal City, Texas. Burial will follow the funeral at Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX at 11:00 a.m.
