

Frances Louise Estes was born on February 4, 1935 at Fort Benning, Georgia to Thelma and Ernest Stephens. She married Wilson Ches Estes on December 23, 1952. She went home to be with the Lord on April 28, 2011 at the age of 76 after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Helen Jeffcoat, and her brother James Stephens. Frances is survived by her husband of 58 years, her daughters Pamela, Deborah, Patricia and Susan, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Frances Estes was an avid crafter, skilled at crochet, knitting, beading, cross stitch, ceramics, sewing and other pursuits. She often created beautiful pieces for her family and friends, especially lovely baby clothes, blankets, afghans and much more. Fran loved reading and movies of many kinds, and instilled her great love of reading in her children. She was a wonderful friend to those who knew her, always sensing when friend or family needed a gift or help. Frances loved fishing and especially crosswords and other word puzzles…at which she was very proficient!
Frances Louise Estes will be laid to rest at a private family service on Friday, May 6 at 2:45 p.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. The family will be hosting an open house reception for friends at the Estes’ home on 205 Kerry Brook, Converse, Texas beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 6.
