Mrs. Helen Louise Jackson, died peacefully on Monday April 15, 2024 in San Antonio Texas at the age of 91. Helen Jackson was born January 24, 1933 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She graduated from high school then joined the Air Force. This veteran served her country performing outstanding duty to God and Country. During this time, she traveled to Wyoming and worked in “supplies” and her next assignment took her to Oklahoma where she met her husband Joseph I. Jackson. She became a wife and mother and thereafter honorably discharged from the Air Force to be a devoted wife and mother to her 5 children. She was a caring, beautiful, Godly, and forgiving Mom, she taught us to be loving, caring and forgiving as well.
Later in life, she continued to sacrifice as the doting grandmother who would care for her 3 beautiful granddaughters, Israel J. Thorsteinson, Alexandria M. Thorsteinson and Jaymes R. Edwards showing and giving them the love and patience she showed her own children. We remember her for being a great listener, counselor, baker, cook and homemaker. Over her lifetime she became “Mom” to many with her gentle nature, great listener, nurturer, caretaker and devoted friend.
Helen Jackson was passionate and devoted to GOD and her church family. She awoke daily speaking to GOD and reading HIS word and went to bed nightly doing the same. Her favorite verses were found in Psalms, Peter and John. She attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Tennessee, Savannah Baptist Church of Marion and Randolph Brooks Air Force Base gospel/ contemporary services regularly. As she grew in age and traveled less with COVID still ever present, she attended church via telephone conference presided by Pastor Mary Bolden.
Helen Jackson (the last member of her siblings) is survived by her children Sherry L. Jackson, Joseph R. Jackson (wife Raquel), Anna Edwards, and Kimberly Moylan, 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, a number of nieces & nephews and her and beloved best friend, Lillian Kyle.
