

Jeff earned his Registered Nurse License from the State of California obtained through the US Army categorized as a Lower Division Baccalaureate Degree and held an LVN License, Nurse to Practice Nursing in the State of Texas. He was assigned at Brooke Army Medical Center Burn Unit and as Wardmaster of Old BAMC Male Surgical Ward for 13 BRAVO and eventually 20 years of civilian Nursing at St. Luke's Baptist Hospital for a total of 40 years of Nursing. He also was assigned to Landstuhl Medical Center in Germany to receive casualties from first Desert Storm. The last 20 years he worked as a civilian nurse in St Luke's Baptist Hospital.
He had a passion for reading history and military books, WWII and Vietnam War history. His wife, Chris made him help her deliver meals on wheels for the disabled. He loved to bar-b-que and make homemade pizza anytime, any day.
The family wishes to give special thanks to nieces, nephews and friends for their continued support and offered prayers, to the nursing staff and chaplain ancillary of Christus Santa Rosa Hospice for their compassion and care of Jeff, sister in law, Luz Dapilmoto for stepping in to help when needed saying “I am your sister”, Lolly Jugo Gips, Handling church and reception by these two blessed ladies. My gratitude to Luz Dapilmoto and her sister Lolly Jugo Gips for handling the church St. Monicas and reception.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Geret and Wanda Hunter; brother, Gary Hunter.
Jeff leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 31 years, Chris Hunter; son, Jeremy Hunter; Daughter, Jennifer Allumbaugh; brothers, Greg and Roger Hunter; three grandchildren, Madelynn Rose Hunter, Hailey Johnson and Hunter Allumbaugh.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Dapilmoto, Eric Dapilmoto, Mark Dapilmoto; Maria’s nephews, Phillip Young; Army best friend, Hunter Allumbaugh; grandson, and Phil Allumbaugh; son-in-law. Romeo Camarce Jr. and Jerry Briseno; Chris’ nephews, will be Honorary Pallbearers and Jeremy Jeffrey Hunter; son, will be a pallbearer by proxy.
A visitation will be held from 10:00am to 10:45am for Eulogy given by Rennee Pascascio and Phil Young, followed by the Recitation of the Holy Rosary from 11:00am to 11:30am with the Funeral Mass celebrated from 11:30am to 12:30pm. on Thursday, June 11, 2026 all at St Monica Catholic Church, 501 North St, Converse, TX 78109.
Funeral Procession will depart St Monica Catholic Church at 12:45pm going to Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209 for a Committal Service with Military Honors from 1:30pm to 1:50pm
