Joyce Marie Maternowski entered the world on 12/1/1933. She was birthed by Evelyn Zuchowski and Raymond Abair and she was raised by her Grandmother and Aunt. Joyce graduated high school in 1951, with her longtime friend, Mrs. Caroline Johnson, of an astounding 81 years.
In June 1951, Joyce met and fell in love with Robert Dan Larsen of Ludington, Michigan. He proposed shortly after and they were married on 12/20/1951. She accepted him as the love of her life and they had a beautiful wedding. As a military wife, Joyce learned to be a patient and flexible wife living and enjoying homes in Germany, England, California and eventually a finding permanent residency in Universal City, Texas. Whereby they both presumed positions with civil service on the Randolph Air Force Military Base.
During their marriage, they were blessed with two children, Cynthia Ann Larsen and David Wayne Larsen.
Joyce loved life and her family. She fell in love with each new grandchild and great-grandchild. She was truly "the glue" that held the family together. She enjoyed spending time with family and cooking extensive holiday dinners. In addition, her famous corn casserole, baked bean casserole and orange jello desert. Her brownies are out of this world delicious along with her lasagna, spaghetti and pulled pork.
During her life, Joyce embraced all of life's challenges. She succumbed to many physical ailments. She overcame obstacles in her life and at the same time helped others along the way. Joyce overcame a battle with colon and Lymphoma cancer among other ailments without ever complaining. Joyce was always loving and compassionate and she willingly helped others until the end of her battle.
The depth of Joyce's life and years of dedication are felt by everyone. She is leaving her family but knows they will always be together, bound by the love and life teachings. She knows that they will be laughing, loving and making every second they spend together a moment to remember and cherish as that is what she would have wanted. She has provided them a visual, emotional and physical example of what love is and what it looks and feels like to everyone who has entered her life.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Raymond Abair and Mr. Anthony and Mrs. Evelyn Zuchowski. Her legacy is left to her (grand) daughters Corinna Ann Cheney and Amy Lee-Marie Satcher, grandchildren Eric Larsen, Travis Hope Larsen, Justin Blair, and Robert Blair Larsen. Her legacy is also left to her 12 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Joyce Marie is rejoicing with her Heavenly Father. I am sure she has received the highest compliment.
"Well Done, My Good and Faithful Servant, Well Done"
