Leona was born July 28, 1920 to Edwin and Lulu Wallington in Lodi, Ohio. She graduated from Spencer High School in 1938. After graduating, she continued to help her parents on the farm until she married Oval Blake Roberts February 2, 1941. Oval was drafted during WWII. While he was away, Leona worked in a machine shop. She worked until he came home from the war. She was our own “Rosie the Riveter”. Oval passed away in 1994. They were married almost 53 years.
They raised two boys, Dana, born in 1946 and Eddie, born in 1954. She was always active in the church. After moving to Texas in 1983 she found a new activity, working in day care with infants. She finished her working years at age 82 in the nursery of First Baptist Church Universal City. Leona continued to be active in the Evergreens senior group and sang alto in the senior choir.
Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Oval and her sister Evelyn Perrin.
She is survived by her sons, Dana (Linda) and Eddie (Janet), five grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and two nieces.

Services will be on May 18th 2021, at First Baptist Church Universal City. Visitation will be at 10:30am, Service at 11:30am and a 1:30pm internment at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
