Matthew Gabriel Herrera

As a child, Matthew played football, T-ball, baseball, and basketball for the YMCA. He played basketball and football at Terrell Wells Middle School and played football at McCollum High School.

Matthew was a loving man and a family man! He loved his brothers, his sister and his family as a child. Then as an adult he loved his children, his brothers, his sister, his wife, his family and friends. He loved mini tacos on Tuesdays from the taco truck on Potranco. He was very outgoing. He was always there to help anyone in need ~ he never said no.

He loved the University of Texas Longhorns "Hook 'em Horns", the San Antonio Spurs “Go, Spurs Go”.

Matthew was a Tech Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force; he had a career in Avionics with the United States Military.

Matthew is preceded in death by his father, Julio M. Rodriguez, survived by his mother, Gina; brothers, Phillip and James; sister, Alexis; his son; Matthew Jr.; daughter, Breelyn; his grandparents and wife, Angelica.

A very special Thank You to everyone for your prayers and support. My sister Monica and my parents for bringing us food to the hospital, my cousin Christina for helping me with the paperwork and emotional support at the hospital, Matt’s grandparents for bringing food and desserts to the hospital, Sergeant Jimenez for buying craft supplies and coffee, Laura Castillo for the mini urns and my aunt Margaret for making the hearts.
