Melanie Jane Burns

Melanie was diagnosed with Complete Tristomy 22 which means she has three chromosomes instead of the normal two, and is a very rare condition, and was not suppose to survive shortly right after birth (Not Compatible with life) but little miss Melanie was determined to beat the odds. Just seven days after birth Catherine and Alex took their daughter home on Hospice care due to her having Hypoplatic Left Heart Sysdrome. Melanie gave her family so many wonderful memories in just the short three months and three days she was here on earth. Melanie's family got to love on her with lots of hugs, cuddling and kisses (Especially from her Mommy). Melanie was loved by so many, and had many people praying for her, Melanie will be missed dearly.

Melanie is preceded in death by her uncle Michael Lewis Thompson (Catherine’s brother), Great Grandfather Edward Hunyor (Catherine’s grandfather) and Great Grandmother Dorothy Thompson (Catherine’s grandmother) great grandmother Lucy Thompson (Catherine’s grandmother) and great grandmother Darlene Thompson (Catherine’s Grandmother).

She is survived by her parents Catherine Marie Thompson Burns and Jon Alex Burns Jr., sister Michaela Marie Stanley, special protective brother Brody “the cat” he loved her so much and would sleep at her feet each night to protect her, her dog sister: Blake who loved her and would put her head beside Melanie when Melanie was on the couch; dog brother: Tiger who loved her very much, maternal grandparents Terry and Sylvia Thompson, paternal grandparents: Jon Burns Sr, Kathy (Tony) Nunez; great grandparents: Barbara Hunyor (Catherine’s Grandma) and Carl Thompson (Catherine’s Grandpa); uncle Spencer Burns. Sweet Melanie has numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins from Texas, Washington and Michigan all whom were able to meet her just in her short life and prior to becoming our angel baby and moving onto meet her family in heaven.

A visitation will be held Friday, August 4, 2017 at Colonial Funeral Home from 5 to 9 pm with a holy rosary to be recited at 7pm. Graveside services will held Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Holy Cross Cemetery at 10 am.
