Michael “Mike” Kossak, born April 23, 1963, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2025, at the age of 62, surrounded by love and family. He leaves behind a legacy of service, hard work, deep community roots, and a life guided by faith.
Mike was born in Tacoma, Washington, to Laura Jubie and Martin Kossak, into the well-known and close-knit Jubie family, a strong and active presence in the Marysville community. Surrounded by a large network of siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family, Mike was raised with a deep sense of family, community, and responsibility. The unwavering support of the Jubie family played an important role in encouraging Mike’s passions and helping him pursue his dream of owning his own business.
As a young man, Mike moved to Texas with his brother Duane and Duane’s wife, Cindy, where he began working in the restaurant industry and learned the trade that would define his career. After nearly a decade, he returned to Washington and, with the encouragement and support of family, bought into the Golden Corral franchise in Marysville, which he proudly owned and operated for more than 30 years.
A devout Christian, Mike was deeply involved in his church and volunteered for many years through faith-based and community outreach efforts, generously giving his time and resources to support others.
Mike had a lifelong passion for cars and motorcycles. He fulfilled a lifelong dream by hand-building his own 1927 Model T, a reflection of his craftsmanship, patience, and pride in his work.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Alice Kossak; his children, Amber, Joshua, Howard, Katherine, and Stephanie; and their eight grandchildren, who brought him great joy. He is also survived by his brothers, Duane and Brett, and his sisters, Karen and Roxanne, along with many extended family members across Washington and Texas.
Mike will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, faithful servant, hardworking business owner, and a man whose generosity and strong community ties left a lasting impact.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026; 11:00a.m., at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1129 Pat Booker, Universal City, TX 78148.
