

Among other jobs Nelly worked and retired as a Quality Control Officer for Sweet N’ Low Manufacturing. She was a devoted mother of four, Three sons, and one daughter. Known to be the anchor that kept the family together, her passion was cooking and hosting family gatherings. Her favorite hobby was Arts and Craft in which she became an avid creator of home-made post cards, labels, and other paper correspondence and decoration trinkets. She was a devout Christian and a recognized member among the congregation of her church. Her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her.
Nelly was fond of the arts, as she loved music and dancing. She also enjoyed reading her Bible and she was no stranger to sharing the word of God.
She is preceded in death by her sister Judy Gonzalez and her first grandson Stephen Michael Torres.
She is survived by her four children and their spouses, her son Juan Jose Torres and his wife Melissa Diana Torres, her son Victor Manuel Torres and his wife Stacey Torres, her daughter Rosita Torres and her husband Victor Jordan, and her son Santiago Torres; her sister Virginia Gonzalez, and her brothers David Gonzalez, and Mikey Gonzalez; her grandkids Justin Michael Torres , Kimberly Alyssa Torres, Calyse Angel Torres, Kevin Torres, Dez Ivonne Velazquez, Christine Marie Del Orbe, Brianna Nicole Del Orbe, Armani Jeremiah Jordan, and Angel K. Cruz; her great grandson Willmi; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
A funeral service for Nelida will be held Friday, October 17, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 4:45 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX 78148, followed by a visitation from 4:45 PM to 7:00 PM.
