With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Oscar Esai Herrera, who left this world far too soon at the age of 37, on 04-13-2026 in San Antonio, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his father, Hector Herrera Sr., and his grandparents on both sides, who now welcome him with open arms.
Oscar was a devoted husband, a loving father and an amazing son and brother, a man whose life was centered around his family. He was known for his strength, kindness, determination, and the warmth he brought into every room. His presence brought comfort, his laughter brought joy, and his love was a constant gift to those around him. Oscar Loved Hard, ‘Ya Heard’
Oscar attended Broward College in Fort Lauderdale, where he furthered his education and began building the foundation for his future. He later worked with Best Bail Bonds, gaining valuable experience before following his entrepreneurial spirit and opening his own business in downtown San Antonio. He took great pride in his work and in building something of his own and for his family, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication.
Above all, Oscar was a proud and devoted father to his beautiful daughter, Aliyah Herrera, who was the light of his life. He cherished every moment with her, and the love they shared was deep, pure, and unbreakable.
He was also a loving and devoted husband to Monica Cardenas, his partner, best friend, and the love of his life. Their bond was built on love, trust, and countless cherished memories.
Oscar is lovingly remembered by his mother, Maria Herrera Cardenas; his Pops, Andres Cardenas; his sister, that he adored, Marissa Hernandez (Eddie Hernandez); his brother, Hector Herrera Jr; half-sister from Brownsville Texas, Miroslava Herrera Saenz. His stepsisters, Andrea Cardenas, Alisha Hastings (Chris), and Alana Thompson (Adam). He is also deeply cherished by his in-laws, Louis M. Cardenas Jr. and Patricia L. Cardenas, and his sister-in-law, Crystal M. Ruiz, whom he loved dearly like a true partner in crime. He also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
A service to celebrate Oscar’s life will be held after his services on Monday. Family and friends are invited to come together to honor, remember, and celebrate the life of a man who meant so much to so many.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Oscar’s love will live on through his daughter, Aliyah and all who knew him. He will be forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.
