

Master Sergeant Richard Duperior, United States Marine Corps (Ret), of Universal City, Texas passed away September 2, 2017. He was born August 3, 1942 to Thomas and Delores (Giron) Duperior in San Francisco, California. MSGT Duperior is a highly decorated Vietnam Veteran who earned numerous awards over this distinguished 24-year career including the Purple Heart. Following his retirement from the military, MSGT Duperior served as a MCJROTC for 30 years in Shiprock and Laguna-Acoma, NM and Highland Spring and Lynchburg, VA. In this capacity he was a great leader and mentor to the nation’s future military leaders. MSGT Duperior is preceded in death by his parents; Son, Richard Duperior Jr; and Sisters Lorraine Lesmeister, Esther Lesmeister and Susie Dupris. He is survived by his wife of 20 yrs, Carlette Duperior; and siblings: Mona Wilson of Fernley, NV ; Ray (Tammy) Lesmeister of Sturgis, SD; Beverly Bad Moccasin, Lavona (Robert) Radke, Frank (Rose) Dupris, John (Roxanne) Dupris and Fred (Norma) Dupris of Rapid City, SD. Surviving Children include David Duperior of Universal City, TX; Linda Wilson of Converse, TX; Allan (Star) Duperior of Fairbanks, AK; Anna (Bob) Kisner of Pittsburg, PA; Donna (Sal) Chaves of Port Orchard, WA; Nicole Duperior of Petersburg, VA; Jeanie (Melvin) Webb of St. Stevens Church, VA; Charles (Ashley) Gray of Louisa, VA; and Tabitha (Anthony) Gray of Richmond, VA. Grandchildren include David Duperior Jr, Elizabeth Wilson, Bernard Bartels, Benjamin Alonzo, Lonnie Bartels, Eric Bartels, Christopher Duperior, Dustin Duperior, Joshua, Jennifer and Joellie Kisner, Joseph Chavez, Desiree Chaves, Maria Chavez, Alex Chavez, Ricky Duperior, Roberto Duperior, Desire White, Tony White, Hunter Gray, Autumn Gray, Amber Gray, Hannah Gray, Samantha Gray, Chase and Angel Collins and Connor Morris, Armauni Webb. Great Grandchildren include Bayleigh and Eli Wilson, Jaxson and Lucas Bartels, Jaxson and Kayson Kisner, Jeramiyah Chavez, Jai’den Jones, Mason Chadwick and Zander Duperior. Visitation will be at Colonial Funeral Home on Sunday, September 10, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Colonial Funeral Home on Monday, September 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with full military honors being provided by the United States Marine Corps.
