Sheran was born on June 3, 1948, in San Antonio, Texas, to Vernon and Myra Lee (Townsend) Pope. As a child, her parents would take her & her brother, Wayne, on vacations to Colorado, developing a love of travel that would persist her entire life. She graduated from Harlandale High School in 1966, & later Southwest Texas State University in 1970. Sheran was deeply passionate about teaching & would earn a Bachelor of Science in Education. She taught elementary school students in the San Antonio & Del Rio school districts. She had a gift for teaching the middle grades & her students were known to adore her. Sheran retired from the classroom when her beloved daughter, Lisa, was born. Ever the hard worker, Sheran devoted herself to being the best homemaker possible. She was the living embodiment of a loving wife & mother.
Together with Doug & Lisa, she enjoyed road trips across America, with destinations including Los Angeles, Las Vegas, & Albuquerque. Sheran was an avid reader & had several favorite mystery novels by leading female authors. In recent years she enjoyed cable TV, leaving the big screen on continuously. She had a special interest in weather, as her father had grown up in Oklahoma, & had a fondness for movies anywhere from Twister to The Wizard of Oz. Her other interest was older sitcoms, with her all-time favorite being I Love Lucy. One of her travel and television highlights was being a participant (with Lisa) on The Price is Right with Bob Barker.
Sheran is Preceded in death by her parents, Vernon & Myra Lee Pope.
Sheran leaves behind to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of 52 years, Dr. Douglas Tilley, beloved daughter Lisa Kay Tilley, brother Wayne Pope & his wife Cynthia, and brother-in-law Clark Tilley & his wife Debbie.
The Family would like to extend a special thanks to Drs. Wellford, Simon, DeWitt and Angulo at NE Baptist, Always Best Caregivers, & Texas Healthcare Solutions for their compassionate care and support.
