She is survived by her two sons, Richard and John. She is preceded in death by her late husband, Moody Kingsley Bryan. Born in Antigua the youngest of 10 children, Shirley received her nursing training in London. Once certified, she moved to New York where she met her future husband while taking driving lessons from his father – learning to drive on the correct side of the road. Moody’s military career took the family to Boston and New York again, before landing in Hawaiʻi where they lived for more than two decades. Shirley was deeply devoted to her family and to saving lives as a registered nurse. For years, she was the only perfusionist in Hawaii who could run the heart/lung machine. After more than twenty years in Hawaii, she retired and the couple moved to San Antonio, Texas. An avid tennis player and bowler, it wasn’t until she was in her late 80s that she finally retired her tennis racket and bowling ball. She will forever be remembered for her grace, her love for her family and her love of God.
