Terrance (Terry) Newman Chaffee, adored husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully into the arms of our Lord on January 4, 2021.
He was born on January 16, 1934 in Newfield, New York to Maynard and Vivian Chaffee, the third of seven children. Terry served in the Korean War, assigned to Kimpo AFB, Korea from July 1952 to June 1953 and was awarded 5 medals. He also won the Kimpo AFB Ping Pong Championship during this tour and was a force to be reckoned with on the ping pong table. His love of the game was passed on to his family.
He served in the Vietnam War, assigned to Ben Hoa, South Vietnam from February 1967 to February 1968. Terry was awarded the Bronze Star and the Vietnamese Service Medal. During his Air Force career he was also assigned to Foster AFB, Victoria, Texas; Seymour AFB, North Carolina; Wiesbaden AFB, Germany; Torrejon AFB, Madrid Spain; and Randolph AFB, Universal City, Texas.
Terry is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Dorothy Cortez Chaffee; his daughter, Carol A. Rocha and husband, David; his sons, Terrance N Chaffee, Jr. and Michael W. Chaffee; his beloved grandchildren, Beth Keller and husband, David, Veronica Rocha and husband, James Steger, TJ Chaffee and wife, Reva, Davy Rocha and wife, Ashley; and his great-grandchildren, Jacob and Jordan Keller, Colton and Jackson Chaffee.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 25, 2021 at Colonial Funeral Home in Universal City. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment with full military honors will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
