A visitation for Thelma will be held Monday, December 6, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX 78148.
Thelma Clara Hendrix, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2021. Thelma was born December 1, 1932 in Sparta, North Carolina to the late Leonard and Gladys Pruitt.
Thelma is preceded in death by her daughter, Linda, her mother Gladys, her father Leonard, her sister Geraldine, and her brother Delane.
She is survived by her husband Clark, her sister Theda, brother Leonard, and her two sons Douglas and Gerald.
Thelma grew up in the Smoky mountains between Maryland and North Carolina where she left high school early to study to be a nurse. She was a devoted wife to Clark as they moved from state to state serving in the Air Force. Thelma was also a steady presence and sounding board for her children. By far, Thelma’s heart and devotion to her family is best expressed through her love for her family, but specially for her steadfast drive and determination to guide her daughter Linda through a full life full of friends and activities despite Linda’s special needs.
Thelma was also a doting grandmother to her two grandsons, Clark and Gerald.
Thelma enjoyed taking walks, spending time in the outdoors, reading, and doing cross word puzzles. She also really enjoyed baking, especially during Thanksgiving and Christmas. During the holidays her home was filled confectioneries ranging from chocolate cookies, sugar cookies, fudge, pecan tarts, and a host of other goodies. Needless to say that the aromas from all the freshly baked goodies also filled the house. This was certainly a special time for the entire Hendrix family and for Thelma.
Thelma leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion and warmth and she will be greatly missed.
