Velia D. Castillo

Velia Castillo of Universal City passed away on April 6, 2015 at the age of 83. She was born in General Cepeda, Coahuila, Mexico on April 12, 1931 to Benjamin and Terisita (De La Rosa) Lopez. She is preceded in death by her parents and daughter Rosalinda Castillo. She is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years Aurelio L. Castillo, Sr.; son Aurelio L. Castillo, Jr.; daughter Rosemary Castillo; daughter in law Katherine Gomez; sister Hermina Lopez Avila; brother Benjamin Lopez; grandsons Jose Luis, David, Joel, Anthony, and Jonathan “Jon Jon” Castillo; great- granddaughter, Unique Castillo; great-grandson Julian Castillo; and numerous nieces and nephews. Velia graduated from college in Mexico with a seamstress degree. She was a wonderful homemaker and gardener with the most beautiful rose bushes in the neighborhood. Visitation will be Monday, April 13, 2015 at Colonial Funeral Home from 6:00 to 9:00 pm with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Selma at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Selma Cemetery #2.
