

William E. “Bill” Lytch, son of Rufus Lauren Lytch and Effie Mae Smith Lytch, was born in Robeson County, NC on November 22, 1928. He grew up on a cotton and tobacco farm before tractors and modern equipment. He joined the Midway Presbyterian Church at the age of 12 and remained a Presbyterian the reminder of his life. He was educated through high school in Robeson County, graduating from Maxton High School in 1945. He received an AA degree from Lees McRae Jr. College in 1947 and a BA degree from Presbyterian College in 1949. He received his Divinity Degree from Union Theological Seminary, Richmond, VA. Mr. Lytch was ordained to the Gospel Ministry in the Presbyterian Church (US) on July 27, 1952. He was married to Priscilla Jean Shorey of New Haven, Connecticut, on May 20, 1952, the same day he graduated from seminary.
He was the proud father of three children: William Leon Lytch and his wife Nancy, Priscilla Lauren, born on March 5, 1957 (deceased November 2003); and Peter Shaw Lytch and his wife Tina, and the proud husband of Priscilla who died on May 11, 2010. He is also survived by his son-in-law, Mark Stepaniak; and his grand-children, Nolan Lytch, Natali Lytch, Nick Brown, Andrew Brown, Barry Brown, Jr, Zackary Brown and Aaron Brown;
Over a span of 41 years Mr. Lytch served full-time in five different pastorates in NC, FL, and Texas. After partial retirement in 1993, he and Mrs. Lytch moved to FT. Meade, Fl where Mr. Lytch served part-time for four years. Their next move was to Nacogdoches, TX, where Mr. Lytch served part-time as the pastor of the Tennessee Colony Presbyterian Church. In 2005. Mr. and Mrs. Lytch moved to their retirement home in Wichita Falls, TX to be near their son Peter. Three years later Peter was transferred to San Antonio TX and Mr. Lytch followed, where he spent his retirement in an apartment near his family.
Mr. Lytch served for five years as the president of the Florida Christian Ministry and on various presbytery committees during his active years. As an author, he wrote the history of two churches: Bethesda Church of Reidville, NC and the San Augustine Church in San Augustine, TX.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 5:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church, 1401 Pat Booker Road, Universal City, Texas 78148.
