

He is preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Agnes Van Steenburg and his brother Herbert Van Steenburg Jr. and his late wife Bonnie Van Steenburg.
He was a devoted husband to his wife Elsa Van Steenburg. He was a loving father to William Van Steenburg Jr and his partner Matt Johnston and to Michael Van Steenburg and his wife Ebru Kavlakogullari. He was a wonderful father to his stepson Edward Welsh and stepdaughter Dorthy Rivera. He was a loving grandfather to Phillip and Andrew Van Steenburg, and Sofia Rivera.
Bill proudly served his country for six years in the U.S. Marine Corps. Bill was a generous, kind, and wonderful man to be around with an upbeat attitude and a good sense of humor.
Bill studied Pediatric and Mechanical Ventilation at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He did two years residency as a Research Assistant in the Pulmonary Medicine Department at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He also did a year residency at the Maricopa County Hospital in Arizona researching improvements in ventilation management to improve patient outcomes. He was a Physician Assistant and a Critical Care and Ventilation Management Specialist. He was the Director of the Cardio Pulmonary Department in Carlsbad, New Mexico at the Guadalupe Medical Center and the Midland Memorial Hospital, Midland, Texas.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and enjoyed traveling all over the world. He was an avid reader and extremely knowledgeable of Roman and Ancient history and subjects related to the Revolutionary and Civil War and WWI and WWII. He enjoyed doing Civil War reenactments all over the United States and was part of the reenactment of the filming of the movie Gettysburg. He enjoyed building model tanks of WWI and WWII. Also enjoyed building model airplanes, locomotives, and automobiles. He was member of the Garden Ridge Citizens Patrol and the Early Ford Classic V-8 cars.
Bill retired as the Director with MEDIQ-PRN and Advisory Board Member with Respironics, Inc.
