Andy is predeceased by his step-mother, Gladys Grethen and brother, Mark Grethen. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Tammy Grethen; children, Emily (Chase) Culbertson, Eric, Ryan, Alex and Luke; grandchild, Levi Culbertson; parents, Doreen Joyce and Eugene Grethen; siblings, Beth (Mike) Wooster and Dan Grethen and 19 nieces and nephews.
Andy was a giving and generous man who showed his friends and family the meaning of unconditional love. He was a father-figure to many and was willing to help on any project or task. Known for being a good listener, a jokester, giving good advice and his famous spaghetti that he has been perfecting for 30 years. Although he would happily come to dinner at your house and take a nap on your couch. Andy loved getting a good deal and had a knack for wheeling and dealing. He was a man of God and wasn’t afraid to go up to a stranger and invite them to go to church with him. Material items were of no importance to Andy. As long as he was surrounded by family and friends, he was the happiest man in the world.
There will be a visitation from 9:00-11:00 and funeral service at 11:00 am at New Life Church-Kempsville location at 1244 Thompkins Lane, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23464 (watch the service via livestream on https://bit.ly/GrethenMemorial) on Monday, October 25, 2021 with a private burial at Rosewood Memorial Park.
