5 January, 1941 – 19 April, 2024
IN THE CARE OF
Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home & Rosewood Memorial Park
In loving memory of Aurelia C. Doswell Corbin, who was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 19, 2024, at 7:13pm.
Aurelia (Rita) was born on January 5,1941, to the late Herbert N. Doswell Sr. and Helen Winbush Doswell in Lunenburg, Virginia. She was the seventh born of twelve children and the baby of five girls. Rita grew up in Mehernin, Virginia, where she helped care for five younger brothers.
After graduating in 1960, from Lunenburg High School, Rita left Mehernin, Virginia and moved to New York, where she later met and married her late husband Richard Jordan Corbin. Aurelia and Richard started their family in 1961 with first born, Cheryl D. Corbin-Hillary and later Tracey D. Corbin in 1964.
Rita retired from NYNEX Phone Company after a 23-year career in the early 1990's.
In 1996, she was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. Rita inevitably succumbed to her disease, but she was always known for her slick tongue and loving heart. Rita loved all of her grandchildren dearly with devotion and dedication, along with their closest friends, who's lives she has deeply impacted over the years. She was truly grandma to many and will live in each of our hearts forever, until we meet again.
Aurelia is survived by her two daughters: Cheryl D. Corbin-Hillary and Tracey D. Corbin; her grandchildren: Erika "Baby girl" N. Corbin, Rishaud "Shaudy boy" J. Corbin-Lee, Dominique "Block" D. Corbin-Hillary, the late Malik "Leek" D. White and Zaire "Zach" Z. Corbin; her great-grandchildren: Tiana "T" J. Corbin Biggs, Breana "Bre-Bre" T. Corbin-Knight, Aneesa "Jade" J.D.
