Bettie Olivia Chitty Chappell died peacefully on Monday afternoon, November 30, 2015. She was born on March 31, 1922, to Ola Aubrey and Eva Olivia Boyette Chitty in Murfreesboro, North Carolina, and was a resident of Norfolk and Virginia Beach since 1943. She is survived by her son, Earl B. Chappell, III (Mary); two sisters, Frances Hinnant (Charles) and Parthenia Gurganious; one brother, Malcolm Chitty (Jane); two granddaughters, Frances Corsino-Nelson and Casey Corsino Quinteros; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Constance Olivia Corsino, M.D.
Burial will be private at Rosewood Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Norfolk.
