Obituary of Betty Jane Hunt Eisenhower
Betty Jane Hunt Eisenhower, 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 1, 2022. Betty was born in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Herman and Shirley Hunt and with her siblings Ted and Cheryl, grew up in the Lamberts Point area of Norfolk. She graduated from Maury High School and worked for C.B. White Oil Company, Sears and Roebuck, and retired from the US Army Corps of Engineers. She married Ike Eisenhower in 1956, and they were married 16 years before his death. Together, they served in Baptist Training Union in their early years. Betty’s life mission was to unconditionally love and humbly serve others, especially her family. Most precious to her were her grandchildren and great-grandson. We are forever grateful, thankful, and blessed by her thoughtful and impactful life lessons. She touched countless families by caring for children in the church nursery and she made sure toys were germ-free. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Norfolk, and although unable to attend in person in recent years, faithfully watched services online. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Leland Courtney (Ike) Eisenhower; parents, Herman Albright and Shirley Winstead Hunt; brother, Herman Theodore (Ted) Hunt and grandson, Matthew David Phaup. She is survived by her sister, Cheryl Hunt Steen; sister-in-law, Nancy Meadows Hunt; son, Robert Leland (Bob) Eisenhower (Donna); daughter, Susan Eisenhower Phaup (Craig); grandchildren, Chad Michael and Richard Allen Eisenhower, Miranda Kay Wolfe (Justin), and Micah David Phaup; great-grandson, Cameron Blaine Wolfe. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 11 am at First Baptist Church of Norfolk, 312 Kempsville Road, Norfolk, Virginia. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Due to COVID precautions masks are suggested. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to First Baptist Church of Norfolk Media Ministry. Condolences may be offered at www.kellumfuneralhome.com.
