Chuck was my next door neighbor and a wonderful friend. I will miss him a lot. He helped me through some hard times and we had many good times together. Godspeed Chuck and Brenda.

Fond memories of Chuck during our Newport News High School days.  He was funny and friendly with everyone.  It was a pleasure knowing him.  Prayers for his amazing family during this time of grief.

I attended Chuck’s service today but could not stay for his internment.  I wanted to let you know his Sentara family remember him fondly and always appreciated his “can do “ attitude and his great sense of humor.  He was so proud of all of you (children and grandchildren).  He would just light up when he shared what you were doing.  Keeping you all in my heart with prayers for peace.  

As I write this, my heart is very heavy.  I am carrying Chuck there with memories that I have been carrying for 60 years.  I first met Chuck when he was 18.  He was one of two roommates I had at Hunter Air Force Base in Georgia.  He, me, and another fella named Steve Slezak would become as close as brothers over the next two years.  You learn a lot about a person by sharing a 12 x 14 barracks room, sharing all your meals together, and working together at the same hospital daily.  Charlie was a good boy (man) and a good soldier.  After the military, my wife and I would become good friends with Chuck and Brenda.  Visiting one another between Newport News and Richmond.  Although I have not seen Chuck in quite a few years, I know I will miss him.  I just got off the phone with Steve Slezak.  We are hurting but we do take comfort in knowing he is now with Brenda and all the other family members that have gone on before.  Love you Chuck.

My condolences to the family.  Charles was in my graduating class at Newport News High School.  He was a wonderful and kind person.  Sad to hear of his passing.  

So sorry to hear about Charlie. Charlie & I were best friends in our adolescent years. Also good friend with his sister Jeanie.
We were neighbors , I lived at 54 Maple ave and the Maddy’s lived across the street on the corner of maple ave & Blair avenue.
So many fond memories of our childhood together. Loved the Maddy family mom Gladys was always so nice to me. 
If I’m not mistaken they are all gone to a better place.

So sorry to hear of Charles's passing.  We went all through Wilson School together.  Lived on Maple Avenue.  Charles was a fun kid and when he sat behind me in school he would get me laughing so hard I got called out by the teacher!  He and Billy Crosley were good friends and usually when you saw one you saw the other.  Great memories.  Mrs. Maddy was a driving force in the PTA, always doing something for the school.  Great family.  RIP Charles.
