Chong Ok Pak of Virginia Beach, VA passed away at the young age of 53 Thursday, January 10, 2013. She had been valiantly battling lymphoma and its many side effects for several years. With God's help, Chong was always defying the odds and medical predictions against her through spiritual and emotional strength and will power. She was continually surprising doctors with her optimism, resilience and relatively speedy recoveries. Throughout this journey her friends and family continued to believe in her and strengthened their faiths in God's healing power. After many treatments and hospital visits, her tenacious spirit and weary body were put to peaceful rest as she is now rejoicing with the Lord.
Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Chong knew that her sunny outgoing personality and strong work ethic shined brightly above all her other traits. She loved people, great conversation and great food. She found joy in spending time with her family and close friends. In more recent years, Chong really took pride and great pleasure in the involvement of her church, Hanmaeum Presbyterian Church. Above all, her favorite pastime was gardening; she could dig, plant, and rearrange in her yard for hours. Born to Chang Nam Pak and Soon Boon Her January 19, 1959 and raised on a small farm in South Korea, Chong's long sought after goal and accomplishment was furthering her education. She graduated from Penn Foster High School February 1, 2011 with one of her widest glowing smiles.
Chong is survived by her two daughters Natalie of Virginia Beach and Clara of Atlanta, and her grandson Christian of Virginia Beach. She is also survived by her five siblings and their children of South Korea and several cousins dispersed throughout the globe. She also leaves her loving fiancee Brian of Virginia Beach along with her close friends Cindy of Norfolk, Tina of Virginia Beach and Unchuy of Fremont, not to forget all the other friends that she's made through the course of her life.
