Dan was born on August 26, 1941, in Marienville, PA. Dan’s interests were fishing and hunting with his son Tyson J. and many friends. Dan was a Navy Veteran and was proud of that. He joined the Navy after high school in 1960 and retired 31 March 1984, serving his country for 24 years. His duty stations included: Oceana Naval Base, Memphis, TN for schooling, Great Lakes for Training, USS Enterprise, Pax River, MD, Guantanamo Bay, Norfolk Naval Base, and Bahrain.
Shortly after joining the Navy, Dan met and fell in love with Carolyn Noisworthy Parrish who became his wife on June 26, 1964, in Memphis, TN. He immediately became a father to Trudie Parrish and JR Parrish. Their first home together was in Guantanamo Bay where their son, Tyson J. Cussins was born.
Dan was predeceased by his parents, Floyd M. Cussins and Jewel Dora Cussins; son, JR; daughter, Trudie; three brothers, Donnie, Marvin, and Jerry; and two sisters, Virginia and Gay.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 60 years, Carolyn Cussins; son, Tyson J. Cussins; sister Betty Kunselman; two sisters-in-law, Jackie and Geraldine; granddaughter, Lila Mae; son-in-law, David Overfield; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow in Rosewood Memorial Park.
A special thank you and love to Tyson from Dan for staying by his side for 7.5 months, sleeping in a chair by his bed.
