Derek Stephen Wnek

Derek S. Wnek, 61, was born on September 2, 1961 and passed away in Virginia Beach on September 27, 2022. He was predeceased by his mother, Catherine Ann Wnek. Left to cherish Derek’s memory is his loving and devoted partner, Catherine Craig; his daughter, Carolanne Alicia Wnek of Alaska; son, Andrew Thomas Wnek; his sister, Lina Rinaudo; his niece, Cate Evans Rinaudo; and grandchildren, Kiley Ann, Brielle, Alivia, Jaxon, Ocean, Bleu and Braylon. Derek was a Senior Systems Engineer at Dollar Tree Corporate office for over 15 years. He very much valued interaction with friends and co-workers. He was a kind, loving, happy person with a good sense of humor. His smile will be missed by all who knew him. One of Derek’s greatest delights was travel. He enjoyed visiting near and far, learning about different areas and their history. He especially enjoyed the outdoors, with the beaches being his favorite. The family will receive friends at a visitation on Wednesday, October 12 at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, October 13 at 2:00 PM. Burial will be private.
