Derrick Brian Lamm, age 38, of Virginia Beach, Virginia passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021. He was born in Homestead, Florida, November 14, 1982 to Brian and Teresa Lamm. Most recently, Derrick worked as an IT Business Analyst for Sentara Healthcare Systems.
A brilliant man, Derrick sailed through high school, graduating from Salem High in 2000. Then he graduated Old Dominion University with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and because one bachelor's degree wasn't enough, he also obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
Derrick was an amazing big brother to his sister, Kristen. He loved to playfully pick at her, but he was actually very protective. Growing up in a military family and moving often, they were very close.
In 2011, he proudly took on the role of DiDi, and became the best uncle ever. He treasured his niece and nephews embracing every moment with them.
Derrick enjoyed playing computer games and Penguins Hockey games. He was known for being goofy and his gentle, kind, and compassionate spirit.
Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Brian and Terry Lamm; sister, Kristen Goughnour; brother-in-law, Josh Goughnour; his beloved nephews and niece, Dominic, Ainslie, and Declan; cousin, Sarah Meek and her husband Ray Meek; adopted by heart mother, Leigh Ann Graham.
Due to capacity restrictions, the in person Celebration of Life service will be held privately on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home. Please join virtually. We encourage everyone to wear a shirt or hat of something that Derrick loved (i.e. Star Wars, bands, Penguins Hockey). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at
