Eda Margaret (Holmberg) Snyder, of Virginia Beach, went to be with the Lord on November 22, 2025. Eda lived an extraordinary life and was ready to go home to the Lord. Eda was born in Highland Park, MI to the late LeRoy and Mary (Fassett) Holmberg. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Marvin Snyder, Jr; her brothers, Guy Holmberg and Arvid Holmberg; and her son, Douglas.
She completed a course of study at Central Bible Institute in Springfield, MO and obtained a B.A. degree at Pepperdine University; a college graduate at a time when women couldn’t even legally have a credit card without a male co-signer. She married Marvin Snyder, Jr. on May 31, 1949 in Springfield, MO. Her husband was a U.S. Navy Chaplain who retired as a Captain. Eda raised five children and was the perfect Navy Captain’s wife while her husband was out to sea or on assignment for as long as a year at a time. The family moved frequently. After retirement, Marvin and Eda traveled the world, and Eda started her own desktop publishing company. After Marvin’s death, Eda moved into First Colonial Inn where she had a full social calendar and spent many hours doing needlework for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Jonathan (Julie) of Chesapeake, VA, Mark (Debbie) of Virginia Beach, VA, Brent (Tracy) of Hayward, CA, Mary Mathews (Matt) of Magnolia, TX, seven grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren. At 96, she said, “I feel a little like Shirley Temple at the Oscars: ‘Can we go Home now?’”
A funeral service will be held on 12/4/2025 at 2pm with visitation 1 hour prior at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Rd., Virginia Beach VA 23462. Followed by burial at Princess Anne Memorial Park. You may offer your condolences at ww.kellumfuneralhome.com
