Francis E. Bowles passed away on March 23, 2024 at the age of 98. He was born in Muskegon, Michigan in 1925 to the late Frederick and Florence Bowles. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy; his son, John; his sister, Marion Rice (Darold); and his brother, Don Bowles (Jackie).
He was a WWII veteran who served as a Corpsman with the US Navy and the Marines in the Pacific. His final career was as an Engineer for WTAR radio and WTKR TV. He retired in 1989.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who always had a joke to share.
He had many interests over the years including traveling, golfing and of course bowling, which has been his main hobby for the past 50 years. He especially enjoyed coaching the youth bowlers, which included his grandson and his friends. Fran bowled in three leagues a week right up until the end.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Sharon Scott (Michael) and Debra Anderson (James); grandson, Timothy Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. There will be a private graveside service.
