

Freddy Mike Miller passed away peacefully July 22, 2012 after battling colon cancer twice and congestive heart failure at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital.
He was born October 22 1939 to Maurice & Roberta Miller, but raised by his beloved Mammy and Pop Francis Marion and Cleo Patra Miller. He joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 and married at age 20 to Frances Anne Cloninger. They shared a life together for over 40 years and had 3 children. His wife passed in 2002.
He is survived by his three children: Frederick Martin Miller and wife Deborah Ann Miller; Frances Michele Harris and husband Michael Wayne Harris and Francine Marie Miller and a son-in-law to be Richard David Bergstresser Jr.; Five grandchildren: Christopher Andrew Miller, Patricia Ann Springer, Sally Jeanette Swoveland, Aaron Michael Miller and Drake Garrick Holland; and one great grandchild, Chloe Amber Swoveland.
After serving in the Navy for 13 years, he worked at Boyd and Son's in Norfolk as a Diesel Mechanic. He then moved to Lone Star/ Tarmac/ Vulcan were he was a Diesel Mechanic and Port Engineer for 26 years; retiring in 2001 to devote his time to his ailing wife. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Family and Friends knew him as a man of his word and respected him for that.
His hobbies consisted of fishing, hunting, motorcycle riding and reading. He also enjoyed learning about history, especially the civil war era. He kept in touch with many of his ship mates though the National Association of Fleet Tug Sailors. He did this by attending several reunions throughout the United States. Freddy Mike Miller will be missed by all that knew him.
The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 pm, Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 pm, Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.
