Gloria A. Kelly passed away on January 25, 2025, at the age of 94. Gloria was born in Brooklyn, NY to Thomas and Catherine Hynes. She moved to Virginia Beach where she lived and raised her family for the last 70 years. She was a loving mother to four daughters, five grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Gloria loved spending her vacations with her family, whether it was in Nags Head, the mountains, or at the lake. She never missed a year and always made sure to pack at least two weeks in advance. A fun-loving woman at heart, she also enjoyed occasional trips to the casino, where she'd meet her sister, Margo, for a fun-filled girls' weekend.
The center of Gloria’s world was always her family. She took great pride in being the queen bee of the Kelly girls. At the age of 70, she retired to care for her youngest grandchildren, ensuring her precious little ones wouldn’t have to go to daycare. Even as they grew older, her eyes would light up like diamonds whenever one of her grandchildren visited. In her final days, she was surrounded by family, a comfort that we know brought her immense happiness.
Gloria’s loving family included daughters Cathy White and her husband Willard, Trish Kelly, Diane Simoni and her husband Ron, and Liz Gibbs and her husband Steve. She was a proud grandmother to Tina Kelly, Kayla McManus and her husband Cameron, Ron Simoni III and his wife Kareena, Nicole and her wife Alexis, and Austin Simoni and his wife Samantha. Gloria also cherished her great-grandson, Theo Simoni. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A funeral service will be held at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church on February 4, 2025. The viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by the Mass at 10:00 a.m., at 5345 Virginia Beach Blvd, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. A graveside memorial will take place at Rosewood Memorial Park, 631 N Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, VA, immediately following the conclusion of the Mass.
