
Jack L. Morrell, 73, passed quietly to be with our Lord on April 12, 2011. A long time Chesapeake resident, Jack was born April 20, 1937 in Montour Falls, NY, the adopted son of Romaine and Elizabeth Morrell. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Eleanor Morrell; daughters, Virginia Jordan and husband David of Moyock, NC and Shelley Rigdon and husband Tracy of Chesapeake; grandchildren, Trey Rigdon and wife Kristyn of Portsmouth, Tim Rigdon and wife Caitlin of Lynchburg, Tanner Rigdon of Chesapeake, Lindsey Jordan of Moyock, NC and Ginny Kinsey of Chesapeake; and great grandson Brayden Souza of Portsmouth; and brothers, Bruce and James Morrell of Newfield, NY.
Jack was loved dearly by many friends and family. He was dedicated to his country and family. He was the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back and was loved by all. Jack was a former Marine who served his country well. He retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as the former Apprenticeship Administrator. Jack, a beloved community civil servant, changed lives through his actions as a former EMT and EMT instructor as well as a volunteer fire fighter and auxiliary police officer for the city of Chesapeake.
The family will be receiving friends and family Sunday afternoon between 4-6 pm at 3407 Flying Star Court, Chesapeake, VA 23323 and again prior to the funeral at 10:30 am on Monday at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home 601 N. Witchduck Road in VA. Beach. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 am in Rosewood Memorial Park officiated by Rev. E. L. Trueblood.
