James C. Elwell, (U.S.N. Ret.), 73, passed away peacefully May 2, 2010 at Sentara Bayside Hospital.
James was born June 26, 1936 in Philadelphia, PA. to the late Clifford and Helen Elwell. Mr. Elwell served our country proudly in the U.S. Navy, retiring after 20 years of dedicated service. James was a member of the Lion’s Club and the I.O.O.B. He will always be remembered as a loving father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish his memory are three sons: George, Danny, and Tom and wife Jennifer Elwell; two daughters: Janet Elwell and Deborah Kail; a sister, Kay Lukasko; three grandchildren: Madison and Dennis Elwell, Bobby Kail, Jr., two great-grandchildren; ex-wife and mother of his children, Kay Elwell; and long time friend and caregiver, Carmen Payne.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 pm, Friday, May 7, 2010 at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home with a funeral service at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park with full military honors. Please share your love and condolences with the family at www.kellumfuneralhome.com
