Virginia Beach - James R. Hedgpeth, 81, died on February 9, 2016. Jim was a native of Fairmont, NC and was the son of Rudolph and Agnes Lamb Hedgpeth. He was a 1960 graduate of Old Dominion University with a degree in Accounting. He worked for 30 years for the Naval Audit Service. He began a second career with the Lake Wright Golf Course and worked there until it closed in 2014. He enjoyed playing golf with the members and especially enjoyed time with the customers.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of 60 years. He is also survived by his son, Steven and wife Lisa; granddaughter, Taylor; and grandson, Jake, all of Mechanicsville, VA; and his son, Alan of Virginia Beach, VA.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 304, Chicago, IL 60611. The family will receive friends at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Rd. Virginia Beach, VA from 6 to 8 pm on Saturday, February 13, 2016. Inurnment services will be private.
