

Virginia Beach – Jasper B. “Jake” Hardison, 85, passed away March 14, 2012. He was born in Mackeys, North Carolina. Jake proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII. He began a little league career in 1959 as a Little League Manager. He worked his way to the District Administrator, which he held for many years. Jake was the chairman of the “Welcome Committee” at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. In 1983 after 40 years, he retired as Chief of Police of Naval Station Norfolk. Jake also held the title of Chairman of the Challenger Jamboree held in Norfolk, VA every year. He was a member of VFW Post #4809, the Police Assn. of VA, FOP #28 Swells Pt. Lodge., and Haygood United Methodist Church.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Becky Hardison; sons, Kenny Hardison and wife Rita, Mickey Hardison and wife Nancy, and David Jackson; daughters, Stephanie Hardison and Patricia Hardison; special grandson, Johnny Payne and wife Amanda; three grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Cooper and Associates at Pulmonary Medicine of Virginia Beach for the help and care rendered by them over the years. The family would also like to thank the 3rd floor of Sentara Va. Beach Hospital for their care and consideration.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Friday, March 16, 2012 at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home. A service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Rosewood Memorial Park.
