John Thornton Boyce, 96, of Westminster Canterbury, passed away November 10, 2013. John was born in South Norfolk, Virginia on June 15, 1917. He graduated from South Norfolk High School in 1936 and went on to graduate from Emmanuel College in 1938. He also attended Piedmont College. John served in the Army during WWII. He retired after 33 years from the Naval Air Station Supply Department in Norfolk, Va. He was an active member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a member of Parkway Christian Center in recent years.
John was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mildred, of 67 years. John, the eldest of 13, is survived by a brother, Thornton Ray Boyce and wife, Helen, of Woodstock, GA and a sister, Jean Bollinger and husband, Bob, of Hickory, NC. He leaves numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and beloved friends.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Friday, November 15, 2013 at Parkway Christian Center, 601 Volvo Pkwy., Chesapeake. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.
