VA Beach – John William “Mac” McDaniel, Sr., 80, passed away on January 10, 2013. He proudly served his country for 43 years, retiring from the Navy as a Senior Chief and then continuing to serve at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a life member of the VFW and a member of the Fleet Reserve in Norfolk.
Mac is survived by his wife of 46 years, Patricia; his son, John, Jr.; his daughter, Christie Kanta and her husband James; 2 grandchildren, John and Sarah; a brother, Richard; and other family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 18, 2013 at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Rd in Virginia Beach with burial to follow with full military honors.
