Lucy J. Barnes

Virginia Beach – Lucy J. Barnes, 94, passed away on February 11, 2011 in Richmond VA. She was born on October 21, 1916 to Lucy A. and William R. Shipp in Princess Anne County, Va. She is predeceased by her husband, George V. Barnes as well as seven sisters and three brothers.

Lucy retired from Armour Company after 35 years. Lucy’s passions involved her family, her friends, dancing, bowling and playing poker and double solitaire with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a devout Redskins fan with one exception, Brett Farve.

Left to cherish her memory are her children; daughter, Ray Ellen Person and husband Joe of Richmond VA; sons, H. Vernon Barnes and wife Sandy of Aurora, CO; and Ronald C. Barnes and wife Betty of Virginia Beach, VA; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and thirteen great great- grandchildren.

A Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 15, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23462.

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Rosewood Memorial Park, 631 N. Witchduck Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
