Marcella June Alexander

Chesapeake- Marcella June Alexander, 90, (fondly known as Nanny and Mama June) passed on to her Heavenly home on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014. She was born Feb. 4, 1924 in Beloit, WI to George and Minnie Markley. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Benjamin Gerald Alexander, and her eight brothers and sisters as well as many of her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Patricia Sulick of Virginia Beach, Judy Kirk and husband Bobby of Franklin, VA; Gerry Sessor and husband Chuck of Virginia Beach, and Benjamin Alexander Jr. and wife Alison of Branson, MO. She enjoyed a wonderful life surrounded by her children, 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.

She was an active member of Atlantic Shores Baptist Church and was especially fond of her Sunday School Class, the Pathfinders, led by Gary Bennett. Through the years her church family had become very important to her. She was also an avid yard sale shopper with her best friend, Mary Zobrill. They loved having someone with a need they could shop for.

The family will receive friends starting at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15 at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home at 601 N. Witchduck Rd., Virginia Beach with a service starting at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Pastor Ken Lamberson followed by a luncheon. Marcella had a great love for animals especially her little dogs. In lieu of flowers she has asked for donations to be made to the Chesapeake SPCA at 2100 S. Military Hwy, Chesapeake, VA 23320.
