
Born November 11, 1929, in Wilkinsburg, Pa, she was the daughter of the late Adolph and Helen (Laber) Lohner. At the age of 26, she married the love of her life, Paul L. Bush, when they made Virginia Beach, Virginia, her home. She was a devoted wife and homemaker for 45 years until Paul’s passing in 2001.
“Peggy” as she was affectionately known as by friends and family dedicated 26 years of service to Atlantic and Gulf Stevedores as a payroll and insurance clerk.
Among the many things she loved doing included serving in the altar guild as the Secretary/Treasurer for Emmanuel Lutheran Church, where she was an active member. Peggy loved learning and sharing her faith and ministry through her service in WELCA as well as taking care of and tending to the plants and flowers at the church and delivering meals on wheels to the elderly and shut-ins. Upon retiring, she enjoyed her free time gardening and entertaining friends and family. She especially loved her afternoon luncheons with her lady friends, and Saturday game nights with the gang.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Bush was predeceased by one brother, Adolph Lohner (Swissvale, Pa), and her beloved canine companions, JuJu and Honeybee.
Left to mourn and remember her are five nephews, Eric (Beth) Lohner, Oakdale, Pa; Steve (Jean) Lohner, North Huntingdon, Pa; and Jeffrey Lohner, North Huntingdon, Pa; Michael Bush, Dayton, Tx; and David Bush, Harrisburg, Pa; and one niece, Jennifer (David) Pekor, Churchill, Pa; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Lohner, North Braddock, Pa; and Louise “Lou” Bush, Dayton, Tx; several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews, a dear and lifelong friend, Grace Greene, and her family, Pitcairn, Pa as well as many devoted and loving friends in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
At Mrs. Bush’s request, there will be no public viewing. Burial will take place at Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, Amelia, Va.
A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 10:30 am at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, corner of Lynn Shores and Virginia Beach Boulevard, Virginia Beach, Virginia with Pastor Aaron DeBenedetto officiating.
Independent, spirited and generous, Peggy will long be remembered as a kind and gracious soul. One who was always there to lend a hand to offer support and friendship. She was loved and will be missed dearly.
