Gail Verhaagen, 58, passed away on May 25, 2025. Born in Denton, Texas, Gail was a quiet, humble, resilient woman whose life was defined by service to others, especially her family. She embodied strength and perseverance, overcoming many challenges with grace and a deep well of personal integrity. Those who knew her best saw her honesty, straightforwardness, and genuine goodness shine through in all she did.
Gail earned her bachelor's degree in accounting from Old Dominion University and became a highly skilled CPA. She dedicated her career to the mission of Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters, where she served as an Accounting Manager. She approached her work with the same commitment and passion she showed her family and friends.
Her deep relationship with Jesus sustained her through life’s hardships. Even after her cancer diagnosis, she continued to care for others—visiting her father daily in hospice, working diligently at the children’s hospital, and staying closely connected to her loved ones. The outpouring of support from so many people is a testament to how well she loved and was loved by others.
She was a member of Tabernacle Church in Norfolk and part of a supportive and encouraging life group there.
