Raymond Tandoc Raquipiso, 59, passed away on August 3, 2024. He was born in the Philippines. His parents moved to the United States when he was 6 years old. He was raised in Virginia Beach and graduated from ODU with a Civil Engineering degree which he put to use working for Huntington Ingalls Industries Newport News Shipbuilding. Throughout his career, he was a lead structural engineer for the Los Angeles Class Submarines, then a Major Area Team Lead for Columbia Class Submarines, and ultimately a supervisor for Structural Engineering.
Ray was an artist and loved to draw. His artwork lives on and is decorated throughout his family's home. He was also an athletic that enjoyed surfing, land paddling, thai boxing, working out, and his yard work. As a person, Ray was a symphony of compassion, devotion, and joy. Ray had a nurturing characteristic that wanted to ensure people felt comforted and at ease. He had an infectious laugh and just his presence would bring an aura of delight to a room. Ray was a true family man as a loving husband and kind father. His eyes would light up with admiration for his wife and pride for his daughter, whom he loved both deeply.
All are left to cherish his memory alongside his loving wife, Leila Tamayo Raquipiso; mother, Necy Raquipiso; daughter Elena Raquipiso; brother, Roland Raquipiso; and fur baby, Luca. He was predeceased by his father Porfirio Raquipiso.
A visitation and reception will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am, on Friday, August 16, 2024, at the Catholic Church of St Mark ending with an inurnment at the church's Columbarium.
