Robert N. Bowers, 78, of Virginia Beach, VA passed away on June 23, 2014. He was born on March 7, 1936 to the late Frank and Margaret Bowers in Baltimore, MD. His loving wife of 41 years Rita D. Bowers precedes him in death.
A veteran of the Vietnam War, Robert retired from the US Navy after 22 years of service as a Master Chief in 1976. Robert later worked in civil service for many years and retired as Section Head, Naval Surface Warfare Center at NAB Little Creek in 1998. Robert Bowers was a longtime member of Old Donation Episcopal Church which he loved dearly and he especially treasured the close friendships that developed from the congregation.
He is survived by his sons, David Bowers and wife Janet and Christopher Bowers; and one grandchild, Courtney Bowers. He is also survived by his companion, Pauline “Polly" Perry.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lymphoma Research Foundation.
