Robert Patrick Chassar

VIRGINIA BEACH- Robert “Bobby” Patrick Chassar, 72, passed away on May 14, 2010.

Mr. Chassar was the son of the late Eugene J. Chassar and Marie Oechsle Chassar. He was preceded in death by his wife, Harriett Ruth Chassar.

Mr. Chassar graduated from Liberty High School, Bethlehem, PA, in 1955 and retired from the U.S. Navy after thirty years of service as a Master Chief Petty Officer. He served on the USS Nimitz and USS Constitution. He adored his grandchildren and was an avid golfer.

Survivors include his children, Cherylanne Pantoni and husband, Sam of Whitehall, PA; Lori Murphy and husband, Keith of Esparto, CA;Tina Russ and husband, Rob of Eagle, CO; Robert E. Chassar and wife, Debra of Oceanside, CA; Stephen P. Chassar of Portville, CA; thirteen grandchildren, Christopher Eberly and his wife, Jennifer; Brittany T. Pantoni; Zachary S. Pantoni; Jason Murphy; Michael Murphy; Katie Russ; Holly Ann Russ; Autumn Russ; Robbie Chassar; Nicole Chassar; Brittany Chassar; Stephen Chassar; Catlyn Chassar and four great grandchildren; Hannah Eberly; Logan Eberly; Liberty Eberly and James Chassar a brother, James Chassar of Akron, NY; four sisters, Regina Chassar, SSJ of Hillsdale, NJ; Maryann Fulop and Kathleen M. Szabo both of Bethlehem, PA; Dolores Meyer of Kingwood, TX; and Bobby’s companion, Maureen Sigmond.

The family will receive friends on Saturday May 22, 2010 at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., where a celebration of Bobby’s life will be held on Sunday, May 23, 2:00 p.m. with Father Brian Rafferty officiating.

A graveside service will be held with full military honors on September 1, 2010, 3:00 p.m. at Arlington National Cemetery.
